2 cool cafe

lucy loo

we love the latest in local businesses!  and though, 2 cool opened it’s doors, not so long ago, they have already added breakfast.  also, soon to come, will be homemade muffins 8-8, 7 days a week.

the building itself is too cool.  there was not a definite story of it’s history, so if any of you red truckers know, please fill us in!

in usual form, we were starving when we arrived.  one of my favorite things about the dining out experience, in general, is hearing the specials.  sometimes i’ll peruse a menu prior to going, but almost prefer an element of surprise and an open mind.  my surprise today….tomato, bacon and rice soup.  never have i had this before or seen it, and i’ll make a point to have it again.  it would compliment most anything.  i nursed it  through the rest of the meal.  i certainly didn’t want it to be gone too soon.  there was a lot of care put into this divine recipe.

vanessa and i split a plate of the sea salt, parmesan fries with a choice of seven dipping sauces.  since fries are one of vanessa’s specialities (the other being grilled cheese)  i’ll let her do it justice.  i was crazy about them!

my main course was the curry chicken crepe.  light, not too spicy, and served with a healthy mix of grilled veggies.   and i learned a new word “diakon” (that was in the crepe).  it is a radish.

i was saving myself for….. drumroll…… a tiramisu milkshake!  that’s right red truckers, like tiramisu in liquid form…..some whipped cream on top.  you tell me about heaven, cause now i’ve got my own version.  that’s a big 10-4

vanessa too!!

here we go again and this one’s going to be good!  how do i know this you ask?…because everyone who’s been to 2 Cool Cafe has nothing but rave reviews!

IMG_3723located on south patrick drive next to Gleason Park the 2 Cool Cafe building has been many different things since i’ve been here the past 8 years but this one’s going to last, i just know it.  with beachy art work and comfy booths it’s the perfect place to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner.  the owner Ratib Ahmad and his right hand man Jason are running this place like it’s been 2 Cool Cafe for years and years!

okay let’s let get to the important part…the food!

lucy already mentioned the soup but i tried it and can just imagine pouring it over a mound of mashed taters……YUM!

for my entree i went for the blue burger!   cooked to medium rare perfection topped with blue cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato and finished off with a smear of honey mayo…heaven…juicy and served on a fresh bun it’s one of the best burgers i’ve had in a while.  they also have gluten free buns if you prefer.

so here we go……fries topped with sea salt and parmesan cheese…and dipping sauces galore!  we had to try 3 of the 7 so we went with malt vinegar mayo (my favorite), bourbon mayo (holy goodness) and a spicy cilantro lime dip (would be great on pasta)!  i can’t imagine ever meeting a dipping sauce i didn’t love and today i carry on that tradition!

thanks Kisha for the great service, Jason for making it all so tasty and Ratib for your fresh ideas of culinary excellence!
