squid lips

located on the river in historic eau gallie, is a grand building that houses squid lips.  you practically need roller skates to decide where you might want to sit, but every view is a good one.  it’s the perfect place to take family, with a nice sandy beach setting area as well.  when there are bands, there is plenty of room to breathe and dance and feel the breezes.

the menu has some very unique items, and this is what i love about squid lips.  starting with the bimini bread, which is always presented, and has island flavors, and a sweetness unlike anything i’ve had before.  it is divine!  if that doesn’t suit, blue cheese, balsamic tater chips are a great option, and there are plenty of options.

i have had the islamorada redfish on a couple of occasions and it is a great choice.  i try to order items we don’t make at home and find myself getting the sashimi scallops time and time again.  they are delivered in beautiful shells, swimming in soy and ginger;  refreshing, light, and fulfilling.  i have also sampled the seafood lasagna which is incredible bite for bite.

a warning:  if you order the spectacular twiced baked maple sweet potato, it can feed a thanksgiving table.  it is a gigantic piece of work, topped with huge scoops of butter that make it appear to be a banana split.  the caribbean spices added, really complement the sweetness.

the staff is always wonderful.  our server michelle was very attentive and joyful.

squid lips gets an A for original and setting.
